My friend Helen has got a bit of a war going on with the squirrels again and even the birds which she does not usually mind. She has tried all sorts of different things to keep them off her figs and her gooseberries and her peaches (there are about five this year and there was only one last year) so now she has hung all empty CDs from her computer up in all the bushes and trees in the garden and they make a very nice display I reckon but it does seem to be working and we have not seen any new holes in the figs yet. It is a bit distracting out of the window though when I am trying to watch Quincy!

yes they are very good at nicking the nuts out of the birdy feeder so my friend Helen has stopped filling it up now and anyway them birds should be finding lots of grubs and things by now I reckon :¬)

Maybe if you had something that made fox-type noises randomly that would help, or some other scary predator... like a cat or a dinosaur.

hee hee a dinosaur would be good although the man who likes to grind things all day long does not seem to bother them very much so maybe we should just get a tiger.

A tiger would be excellent - and would have a lovely purr when he was relaxing off patrol.

Your friend Helen made a Christmas tree in the middle of summer. I think you better tell her that she is six months early.

My Mum and Dad bought us an elaborate stand for a selection of bird feeders, which we dutifully filled with a variety of seeds. Which the birds have studiously ignored, but the squirrel loves! Luckily I don't grow fruit...
