Goodbye mysterious hummy thing, I really will not miss you
Whoever finished off that work I think that I could kiss you
You made it hard to watch tv
Or play
Or even think
I hope you know that every day you hummed my heart would sink
Oh how we loved it at lunchtime when you would take your break
The birds would sing, the sun would shine and everything would be just fine
For exactly an hour then you'd cough
And grumble for a minute
That unknown job which required your song was back and you'd begin it
At the top of your voice you hummed along, the words all long forgotten
You never worried that you'd made everybody else's life quite rotten
Well now your day has come, you hum no more
I win
You lose
And all I can say is sorry folks, I'm glad I'm not in your shoes
It's time to plan a visit with a distant relative
Think up the best excuse you can that you might have to give
To be somewhere else for a couple of months
That's my advice
Because hummy thing is coming and his heart's as cold as ice
